About the hotel

The Lion Hotel is superbly located within easy access of the A1, M1, M18 and only twenty minutes from Doncaster Sheffield International airport. Situated in the quaint market town of Worksop, the hotel is an ideal base to discover Robin Hood Country, The Dukeries, Clumber Park and Meadowhall to name just a few. The hotel has 46 ensuite bedrooms, all furnished to an excellent standard.

The hotel has over the years been updated, expanded and modernized but always in keeping with the originality of the building where history documents show that parts of the hotel date back as far as 1601.

The Lion Hotel has charm and a warmth that is expected of such a building whilst offering the guests all the modern amenities expected of a hotel today.
The hotel offers standard rooms and executive rooms as well as feature rooms such as the Rufford Suite with a queen sized mud bed, and in addition to that family suites comprising of one double bedded room, one twin bedded room, a lounge and shared bathroom. One even has its own kitchen.

The hotel has five conference rooms seating up to 200 delegates theatre style to a smaller conference room for one to one interviews.

The function rooms are also ideal for those family celebrations, and three of the rooms are licensed for Civil Ceremonies, Civil Partnerships and Naming Ceremonies.

The outdoor patio garden offers a blaze of color from the hanging baskets and hakes allowing you to sit back and relax in the fresh air.

Restaurants and Bars

Bar 114 is a traditional English pub with low beamed ceilings. The menu is traditional home made cooking serving snacks from jacket potatoes to gammon steak and homemade pie. Steak night is run every Wednesday evening and a carvery is available every Sunday Lunch. The bar serves a wide variety of ales, spirits, wines by the glass, soft drinks and it also has a large hot drinks menu.

Savannahs restaurant and lounge offers a more intimate environment which is more modern and contemporary in décor and design. A table d'hôte menu is served and changes daily offering variety and choice. The hotel can also cater for special dietary requirements.

Full English and continental breakfast is served in Savannahs restaurant and can also be served in your room or a take away service arranged. Please be aware that over the Christmas period there will be limited food available and breakfast will be continental only. Please contact the hotel for further information.

Follow A619 - Worksop, joining A60 at roundabout after approx 5 miles. Go straight over next roundabout and turn right after about 1/4 mile immediately before Walker Vauxhall Dealers. Turn second left after the Norfolk Arms and The Lion Hotel car park is about 100 metres on your right.

From North on the M1 - Junction 31
Follow A57 - Worksop to next roundabout - approx 6 miles. Take 3rd exit and follow dual carriageway to next roundabout - straight on to next roundabout, straight on to next roudabout. Turn left, first exit, and turn right after about 1/4 mile immediately before Walkers Vauxhall Dealers. Turn second left after the Norfolk Arms and The Lion Hotel car park is about 100 metres on your right.

From the A1
Take A57 - Worksop from Five Lane Ends roundabout - this is the next roundabout north of Markham Moor Roundabout if travelling from the south, or the next roundabout after Blyth Roundabout if travelling from the north. Continue on this road following Worksop signs - you will pass the police station and council buildings on your left. Follow road round to left and turn right between the Ship Inn and Eyres store. Turn 1st right and The Lion Hotel car park is approx 100 metres on your right.

Worksop has a main line Train Station which is a 10 - 15 minute walk from the hotel.
